The Ultimate Underwater Cutting Tool
The Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting system is the diving industry's most widely used underwater cutting tool.
Consisting of the BR-22 torch, HVR-4401 oxygen regulator and Ultrathermic cutting rods, the Broco Underwater system has proven itself as the fastest, most efficient and cost effective means of completing underwater tasks involving cutting, piercing or gouging the widest range of materials.
The Ultrathermic cutting rod produces a temperature in excess of 10,000°F; hot enough to quickly cut or melt through almost anything including cast iron, stainless steel, brass, other ferrous and non-ferrous metals and concrete.
10,000°F means it cuts quickly and efficiently, producing more cut per inch of rod than any other on the market. Broco's Ultrathermic cutting rod will cut through marine growth, rust and mill scale eliminating the need for pre-cleaning. This results in lower operating costs and reduced bottom time.
Safe And Easy to Use
While other equipment requires as much as 500 amps to cut, the Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting system uses only oxygen and a maximum of 150 amps. In fact the Ultrathermic cutting rod readily ignites from a spark generated by a 12 or 24 volt auto or marine battery. The rod will continue to burn with electrical current removed until the flow of oxygen is stopped or the rod is consumed. The need for expensive support equipment is reduced while a safer diving environment is maintained.
Made For Divers By DiversTM
The Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting system was developed in 1975 by men who understood the needs and requirements of the working diver. Since then, Broco's engineers have been constantly refining the torch and rods, making subtle changes to ensure optimum cutting performance and maximum safety under all conditions. This is why more cutting offshore is done with Broco than with all of our our competitiors' products combined.
Cut sheetpile, remove tabular supports or trim damaged props. Slag-free gouging means easy weld removal and edge preparation. Approved for Navy Use (ANU) designated and featured in the U.S. Navy's "Underwater Cutting & Welding" manual, the Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting system is used by navies around the world. The Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting system is the ULTIMATE CUTTING TOOL.
BR-22 Cutting Torch
The BR-22 cutting torch is ergonomically designed for diver comfort and to reduce forearm fatigue. The torch is constructed from durable high-impact and corrosion resistant materials. All the metal parts are brass.
the non-conductive flexible coupler joining the oxygen control valve to the torch head is a key safety feature, unique in design and found only in Broco's torch. All connections are threaded for ease of maintenance (spare part kits are available).
The solid brass flash arrestor with internal filter screen protects the diver and torch without restricting oxygen flow.
The large collet nut is knurled to assure the diver of a solid grasp. Acme threads prevent binding from mud or other debris, insuring quick, reliable rod insertion and retention. Interchangeable collets accomodate 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch diameter cutting rods and allow the BR-22 to be used as a welding electrode holder.
The BR-22 cutting torch has been built to deliver years of trouble free performance at minimum cost. The ultimate value.
Broco Underwater Ultrathermic Cutting Rods
Burning in excess of 10,000° Fahernheit at the tip, Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting rods cut or melt virtually any known material. Broco's patented rod design features alloy core wires retained by a series of circular crimps.
Recessing these internal wires on the torch end of the rod helps prevent burn back into the torch, making Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting rods are the safest on the market.
Ultrathermic cutting rods can be bent 90° or more to access hard to reach places without restricting oxygen flow or causing the insulation to split or flake off.
Although they can be used with a maximum of 150 amps, Ultrathermic cutting rods have no electrical requirement. Once ignited, they will continue to burn as long as oxygen is supplied or until the rod is consumed.
Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting rods are available in 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch diameters to suit the diver's job requirements. Standard length is 18 inches. For heavy cutting jobs, 3/8 inch x 36 inch long Ultrathermic cutting rods allow greater reach and more burn time between rod changes.
Cut, pierce or gouge underwater, safer, faster and with lower operating costs by using Broco Underwater Ultrathermic cutting rods.
HVR-4401 Oxygen Regulator
The 2-stage Broco Underwater HVR-4401 Regulator (used with 3/8" I.D. oxygen hose) delivers the high volume of oxygen required to optimize Ultrathermic cutting performance.
U.L. listed, the HVR-4401 has been designed and manufactured for ruggedness, ease of operation and maximum efficiency.
